Wind Stength: F5
Surf / Sea State: flat
Air Temperature: 22
Sea Temperature: 18
Weather: sunny

Distance Covered:

OTC site said wind averaged F5 but did not seem that strong, maybe as it was cross-offshore. Sea was incredibly flat so high speeds should have been possible but the 7.5m Thunderbird I used seemed to lack power, maybe the wind was rolling off the land. I started sailing a Naish wide 130l which was easy to sail but a bit slow. Also a very fragile board as the rig dropped across the bow and cracked the hull; I was unhooked and not much wind and it was slow drop. Changed to an Fanatic 126 which was easy to gybe and nicer to sail than the Naish. I then tried a Eagle 113 whihc was good for a few runs before the wind died. Sailed for about 3 hours, about 50 sailors out.
